About the logo
The logo was inspired (a posteriori, perhaps?) by a
T-fold, a nongeometric string background whose simplest example
is perhaps
([0,1] × S¹)/~
where the
circles at 0 and at 1 are identified by a T-duality
transformation R ↔ R-1
which is an automorphism of the underlying conformal field
theory. This very background was the subject of a recent EMPG
preprint: EMPG-06-04
and a related background seemed to insinuate itself in
EMPG-07-11,
during the study of the deformations of the Killing
superalgebra of the Kałuża–Klein monopole.
The logo itself (sans the letters) was defined using
Mathematica
and the (version 6) notebook is
available, also as a PDF.
